Learning and the curriculum
Children develop quickly in their early years. Early Years Practitioners aim to do all they can to help children achieve the best possible start in life.
Development is not an automatic process, however. It depends upon each unique child having opportunities to interact in positive relationships and enabling environments. Practitioners follow the EYFS and implement the statutory requirements within the settings. Practitioners teach children by ensuring they receive challenging, playful opportunities across the prime and specific areas of learning and development.
Prime areas:
Social and emotional
Communication and language
Physical and development
Specific areas:
Mathematics
Literacy
Understanding the world
Expressive art and design
Each area of learning and development will be implemented through planned, purposeful play and through a mix of adult-led and child-initiated activity.
Your child's development will be tracked within all the seven key areas of learning highlighted above.
The key person will help ensure that your child's learning and care is tailored to meet their individual needs. It will seek to engage and support you as parents / carers in guiding your child's development at home
